First of all, no, not that Brandon Marshall. I’m talking about the one that’s a linebacker for the Broncos. Scratch that… a damn fine linebacker for the Broncos. But today, Marshall’s specialty was, “cracking my shit up.” In talking about his Lisfranc sprain, I found this little nugget:
Marshall said he would be out a week or two.
Blah-hahahahhahahha… oh, I have tears in my eyes now. Hey Marshall, why don’t you repeat that little zinger to teammate Roniie Hillman, who has spent the last five weeks (and counting) sitting on the bench with a similar injury? I’m sure Hillman would love to hear your take. Or talk to Baltimore DB Jimmy Smith, who landed on injured reserve earlier this year, also with a (seemingly) similar injury. Yeah, I know, Marshall’s injury could be way less severe than Hillman’s or Smith’s. But his 1-2 week estimate is ridiculous, at least by the standards of my database. I’m not exactly ready to guarantee Marshall is done for the year, postseason and all, but I’m saying that Lisfranc injuries are nothing to get optimistic about. Let’s check back in on this one in a few weeks and see if I’m eating my words. Doubtful.
