Yeah okay, that title is a stretch. But the story is good, so I’ll make it up to you in the end. Mike Florio over at ProFootballTalk wrote a good piece about Percy Harvin today. As usual, I’d love it if you read the whole thing yourself, but whatevs, I’ll recap here. Florio does a nice job of pointing out that, despite Harvin showing up on Seattle injury reports with a thigh injury (or “thigh” “injury” depending on who you believe) pretty constantly over the last few weeks, he was injury-free for his first Jets practice. Maybe he healed. Or maybe the Jets didn’t feel it was enough of an ailment to list. Or, as Florio speculates, perhaps Harvin was never really all that injured. Perhaps, just perhaps, things had gotten so toxic in Seattle that head coach Pete Carroll came up with a vague injury designation in order to allow Harvin to sit out all practices. From my perspective, that’s interesting, as Carroll is known (by me at least) to be pretty manipulative of the injury reports. Now we’ll have to watch and see if this troublesome “thigh” injury pops up again, perhaps after the Jets are mathematically eliminated from the playoffs. Isn’t that next week? That’s always a (way) early Christmas present for a Pats fan like myself.
